Immigration enforcement operations continue in El Paso with multiple federal, state agencies

Federal agents executed immigration enforcement actions Friday for the second consecutive day in El Paso, but again provided few details. Spokespersons for the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration said their agents provided support to immigration enforcement actions, with the DEA spokesperson saying the operations occurred “in various locations throughout El Paso.” A spokesperson for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which is the lead agency on the operations, did not immediately respond to a request for information from El Paso Matters. Abbott orders state police to help federal agents with immigration enforcement

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday ordered the Department of Public Safety to help federal immigration agents find and arrest immigrants who have arrest warrants. “These teams will coordinate with [U.S. Department of] Homeland Security agencies to track down the thousands of illegal immigrants with active warrants across Texas and deport them from our country,” Abbott said in a statement. Abbott sends state troops to U.S.-Mexico border to work with Border Patrol

Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday said he’s sending more than 400 soldiers from Houston and Fort Worth to the U.S.-Mexico border to collaborate with Border Patrol agents “to stop illegal immigrants from entering our country and to enforce immigration laws.” Abbott said he will also send C-130s, an aircraft that can take off and land on rough terrain, and Chinook helicopters.
